PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Public Affairs & Religious Liberty (PARL) Department

The Public Affairs and Religious Liberty Department (PARL) of Christ Our Hope Seventh-day Adventist Church is dedicated to defending one of God’s greatest gifts to humanity—the freedom of conscience and religious liberty. The Seventh-day Adventist Church has always stood as a strong advocate for religious freedom, not only for its own members but for people of every faith and belief around the world.

This department helps the church build positive relationships with community leaders, government institutions, and other faith groups, while also raising awareness among members about their rights and responsibilities as citizens and as followers of Christ.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Defending Religious Liberty: Advocating for the right of every individual to worship freely according to their conscience.

  • Education & Awareness: Educating members about their civic rights, responsibilities, and how to balance faith with daily life.

  • Community Engagement: Building bridges between the church and community leaders, government agencies, and other organizations.

  • Advocacy: Supporting initiatives and campaigns that protect freedom of religion and belief.

  • Guidance for Members: Assisting members with issues related to workplace, education, and personal religious rights.

PARL is inspired by Galatians 5:1: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Through its mission, the department reminds us that true freedom comes from Christ, and that the church is called to be a voice for justice, peace, and liberty for all.
